Real wood is still the floor everything else is trying to imitate. If you are staying in the house, or you want the floor to be the reason someone buys it, this is where the money goes. We install solid and engineered, nailed or glued, prefinished or sand-on-site.

Engineered starts at $11.50 per square foot installed and solid prefinished at $13.75. Sanded and finished on site is $15.50. All of those include tearing out and hauling away whatever is there now, plus trim and clean-up.
Over a crawlspace with good airflow, solid is excellent and can be refinished many times. Over a concrete slab, or anywhere humidity swings hard, engineered is the safer floor because it moves less. In Columbus humidity, that matters more than people expect.
Wood takes on and gives off moisture until it matches the room. If you install it straight off the truck it will shrink after the fact and you get gaps between every board. We acclimate for several days. Contractors who skip this are the reason people think hardwood is fragile.
Often, yes. We can weave new boards into an existing floor and sand the whole thing so it reads as one floor. It is more labour than a fresh install but far cheaper than replacing wood that is perfectly good.
Prefinished is faster, tougher out of the box, and you can walk on it immediately. Site-finished gives you a seamless surface with no bevels between boards and any colour you want. Site-finished looks better. Prefinished is more practical for most families.
